Applications Engineer

Position Overview

Location: San Diego, Van Nuys, Anaheim

FLSA Status: Exempt

Pay Range: $65,000-$110,000 (DOE)

Reports To: Vice President of Engineering

As an Application Engineer, you will serve as a critical liaison during the sales process for complex and technical HVAC equipment and services. You will manage the equipment portion of various projects, including validating equipment selection, pricing, discounts, and submittal processes. This role requires a strong understanding of engineering principles and a strategic approach to meet budget objectives.

Key Responsibilities

1. Equipment Optimization and Validation

  • Optimize and validate equipment selection, including size, configuration, voltage, and options, by reviewing plans and specifications provided by engineers.
  • Evaluate potential cost savings and address any cost-related challenges in projects.
  • Validate project scope by analyzing construction documents, plans, and specifications.

2. Sales Support and Documentation

  • Support sales by preparing preliminary and final submittals as required.
  • Manage submittal releases and ensure accurate revisions as needed.
  • Prepare equipment for order entry, validate pricing, and reconcile job costs.

3. Competitive Analysis and Negotiation

  • Maintain a competitive edge by staying informed on industry trends.
  • Optimize expenses through effective negotiation with manufacturers.
  • Validate pricing and service costs for external equipment purchases.

4. Reporting and Administrative Duties

  • Prepare and maintain accurate coordination worksheets.
  • List potential cost savings and identify issues with equipment configurations and quantities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the department’s success.

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong sales and customer service skills, with the ability to explain technical products to non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to apply engineering principles to product sales.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Bluebeam.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field preferred.
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in electrical/mechanical engineering, Construction or Engineering Technology, or related areas.
  • 2–3 years of experience in the HVAC industry in project management or estimating roles, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Familiarity with HVAC systems and/or temperature controls is preferred.

    • Quick learner with a proactive attitude toward problem-solving and customer satisfaction.

 

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Inside Sales Support

Position Overview

Location: San Diego, Van Nuys, Anaheim
FLSA Status: Exempt
Pay Range: $60,000–$85,000 (DOE)

Reports To: Chief Operating Office & Executive Vice President of Sales

We are looking for a motivated and detail oriented Inside Sales Support professional to join our growing team. This role is pivotal in supporting our sales efforts by providing exceptional customer service, managing inquiries, and handling essential administrative tasks. You will ensure seamless sales operations, from initial customer contact to order processing and post-sale support, while collaborating closely with our sales and operations teams.

Key Responsibilities

1. Customer Support

  • Act as the primary contact for customer inquiries via phone, email, and other communication channels.
  • Address customer concerns and technical inquiries promptly, ensuring high satisfaction levels.
  • Collaborate with the sales team to understand customer requirements and recommend suitable products.
  • Follow up on leads, quotes, and sales opportunities to build and maintain strong customer relationships.

2. Order Processing and Documentation

  • Process sales orders accurately and efficiently, adhering to company procedures.
  • Prepare and review sales quotes, purchase orders, and related documentation.
  • Coordinate with inventory management and logistics teams to ensure smooth order fulfillment.
  • Maintain accurate customer records and sales data in the company’s CRM system.

3. Sales Coordination and Reporting

  • Support the sales team by scheduling appointments, preparing materials, and coordinating meetings.
  • Assist in preparing sales reports, forecasts, and documentation to support strategic decisions.
  • Collaborate with marketing to develop sales collateral, presentations, and promotional materials.

4. Product Knowledge and Training

  • Develop in-depth knowledge of the company’s product portfolio, industry trends, and technical specifications.
  • Participate in product training sessions to enhance your ability to support customers effectively.
  • Act as a product resource for both customers and sales team members, ensuring accurate information sharing.

Qualifications

  • Education: Must have a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
  • Experience: Proven customer service or sales support experience; HVAC industry experience is highly desirable.
  • Skills:
    • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with a customer-focused approach.
    • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities with attention to detail.
    • Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) and CRM systems – Acumatica, Blue Beam and Sales Force.
    • Familiarity with HVAC equipment, systems, and terminology is a significant plus.

Outside Sales Engineer

Position Overview

Location: San Diego, Van Nuys, Anaheim

FLSA Status: Exempt

Reports To: Vice President of Engineering

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Outside Sales Engineer to join our dynamic sales team. As an Outside Sales Engineer, you will play a crucial role in promoting and selling our HVAC products and services to both existing and prospective customers. Your primary focus will be on building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, understanding their needs, and providing tailored solutions to meet their requirements.

Key Responsibilities

1. Sales Strategy and Execution

  • Develop and implement effective sales strategies to achieve sales targets and drive revenue growth within the assigned territory.
  • Identify, prospect, and qualify potential clients through market research, attending industry events, and leveraging existing networks.

2. Client Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, including contractors, architects, Project Managers, engineers, building owners, and facility managers.
  • Conduct comprehensive needs assessments to understand customer HVAC requirements and challenges.

3. Technical Expertise and Solution Delivery

  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to clients, recommending HVAC products and solutions that align with their needs.
  • Prepare and deliver persuasive sales presentations, product demonstrations, and proposals that highlight the value of our offerings.

4. Collaboration and Coordination

  • Work closely with the internal sales support team to ensure accurate and timely order processing, pricing, and product delivery.
  • Partner with the marketing team to participate in trade shows, conferences, and industry events to promote the company’s brand and generate leads.

5. Market and Industry Insights

  • Stay informed about industry trends, market developments, and competitor activities to position our products effectively.

6. Reporting and Forecasting

  • Prepare regular sales reports and forecasts, providing updates on sales activities, opportunities, and challenges to the management team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field is strongly preferred.
  • Proven experience in outside sales, preferably in the HVAC industry or related field.
  • Solid understanding of HVAC systems, equipment, and applications.
  • Strong technical aptitude and ability to grasp complex engineering concepts.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively engage and build rapport with diverse stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated track record of achieving sales targets and driving revenue growth.
  • Self-motivated and results-oriented, with a strong sense of accountability and urgency.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to provide innovative and effective solutions to clients.
  • Proficiency in Blue Beam, Acumatica, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel within the assigned territory.

QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:
